      Past Professional Development

What was our past Professional Development session?

One of past professional development sessions was held at the George Jones Child Advocacy Centre on Monday 2nd February 2015 when the children returned back to school.

We met there at 10.30am and were guided through the centre by one the child advocates there. If CAs had any questions of the advocate there, they asked them during the tour! It was an excellent tour and it is an amazing facility!

What was another past Professional Development session?

In November 2014 over two days, Child Advocates recieved training on Protective Behaviours level 1 by trainer Julie Gorman. Julie was an ex-police officer with decades of experience in front-line work with domestic and family violence perpetrators. She then moved onto teaching Protective Behaviours in the efforts to prevent child sexualised abuse. Julie taught the Child Advocates about the history of Protective Behaviours and the two key messages of Protective Behaviours that are taught to children and young people; 1) we all the right to feel safe all the time, and; 2) we can talk with someone about anything, no matter what it is. She also covered many more interesting and important topics and facilitated educational and fun activities for the attendees.
