      Types of Abuse

       

      Abuse is another way for saying hurt. 

       

      Some people think that hurting someone is just punching or kicking. But being hurt is more than that! 


      There are many ways people can be hurt. Remember, anyone that makes someone sad is a type of hurt.


       

      Emotional Abuse
      • Name calling

       

      • Teasing

       

      • Mind games

       

      • Making someone feel sad

      Social Isolation
      • Stopping someone from seeing their family or friends

       

      • Stopping someone from having friends

       

      • Stopping someone from having hobbies

       

      • Taking away someones car so they cant visit anyone

      Spiritual Abuse
      • Making fun of someone for what they believe in 

       

      • Using someones beliefs to control them

       

      • Stopping someone from praying

       

      • Keeping someone away from a church, or a synagogue, or a mosque, or anywhere else that they might go to pray

       

      • Destroying special religious objects

      Physical Abuse
      • Pushing

       

      • Slapping

       

      • Punching

       

      • Choking

       

      • Kicking

       

      • Breaking bones

       

      • Shooting a gun

       

      • Using a knife to hurt someone

       

      • Locking someone out of their house

       

      • Leaving someone in an unsafe place

      Sexualised Abuse
      • Someone touching your private parts

       

      • Someone making you touch their private parts


      If someone has ever touched your private parts and told you to keep it a secret, you need to tell! You will not get into trouble because it is not your fault. Make sure you tell someone you trust, and you name your private parts they touched.

      Financial Abuse
      • Stealing money

       

      • Stopping someone from making money

       

      • Making someone give them money

       

      • Gambling

      Animal Abuse
      • Hurting a pet to make you affraid

       

      • Saying they will hurt a pet if you don't do what they say

       

      • Showing you that they can hurt a pet and will hurt you too

      Abuse using Phones & Computers

       

      People can try to hurt you by using websites, facebook and phones.

       

      • People can send pictures and videos of them naked

       

      • People can send pictures and videos of people fighting

       

      • People can use the internet to follow you or 'stalk' you

       

      • People can break into your facebook

       

      • People can ask you to send your home address or your phone number...NEVER do this!

       

      • People can ask you to send a picture of yourself...NEVER do this!
